When elite piper Barry Donaldson of the Shotts and Dykehead Band becomes a bagpipe tutor for Glasgow's College of Piping, he decides that the best way of whipping his disparate band of beginner pipers into shape is to enter them into a competition... not just any competition, but the World Pipe Band Championship. This amusing film follows the fledgling band through mayhem and mutiny as they battle the elements and themselves in a quest to make it onto the biggest stage in world piping. Made with the help if the College of Piping and the RSPBA, it is a fascinating insight into rigours and stress of pipe band competition. The internal tensions within the band will strike a chord with pipers and drummers at all levels. And the celtic pragmatism and humour will warm the heart of anyone that loves Scotland and its people. This DVD comes with great bonus features covering bagpipe manufacture and an extended interview with, and performance by, Robert Wallace, principal of the College of Piping.
